2012 is wrappin up

xmas_bulbsxmas_bulbs
We have the kids and we’ve been crafting everything we can think of.
here are some salt dough picture frame wreath ornaments Summer and the boys made for the other side
(so the baby is Ayden…not johnny)
I was thinking of making our own set…but haven’t gotten to it yet

I’ve been trying to do some tiny plastic canvas frames to put photos in for ornaments…but might use my first two for Lynda and Lisa’s Christmas bags I haven’t given them yet-I learned how to use Make the Cut with the Cricut and wanted to make their names in paper piecing to put on the bags then maybe hang the lil picture frame ornament from the handle…will take a picture if I ever get it done
I’ve spent a ton of time looking for a pattern on a disk somewhere of ‘Candy Cane Climbers 2’ but to no avail…need to find some of those old friends from way back when see if I can get it cuz they are too cute and I think the boys would like the ones in book 2 better than book 1.
A blizzard passed through the day after Christmas. Courts were closed so I had an extra day off…altho that makes for a day of makeup work I think!    We should go out tomorrow and see if the snow got packy to make a snowman – have to see how cold it is first…yikes!

I Never Promised You a Rose Garden

DSC_8424           DSC_8421
The war of the roses begins.
My right arm is really scratched up, but cannot take a picture cuz I cannot use the camera with my left hand!

After much struggling to get
The morning glories to
LET GO of the thorns -
I got it cleaned up
Enough to lay down that black fabric Stuff I bought last year.
Now I gotta
Put some mulch on it to keep
It from flying around in the wind.
Larry gave me two bags and it's Gonna have to
be enough for now

Hope it's not to late to give them their 'medicine'
Should have put it on earlier because there's already
Signs of bugs chewing on them .. just haven't had a lot of time

Ethan’s Topsy Turvy

DSC_8799

It all started with a planter I got at the Family Dollar Store for 1/2 price.
I did not realize that the only thing in the box was the planter and I had to buy the soil and strawberry plants.

Because I was broke, Felice loaned me th e money and Karen took me store hopping to find the plants.
We looked at Home Depot and Lowes, but found the plants right down the road at Menards.

We had to buy planters because they only had one six pack available.
I was wishing we could just leave them in these pots, but Ethan had become very attached to idea of using the planter in the box.

So, using our moisture control soil we filled the planter up to the first row of holes,
pushed the strawberries in and continued to fill to the next
row of holes.

I had to get the hose and spray the roots on the ones in the pots because they were all tangled together and a mess to try to separate.
Johnny was all over the mud in seconds – and it was pretty cold out that day.

Finally we got it filled to the top and all the strawberries in and watered it, only to find out that it was too heavy for the Shepherd's hook to hold

DSC_9006

it’s sitting on the table in the front yard waiting for us to figure out what to do with it…
the tree was a thought, but I don’t think it would get enough sun –
I also think this plastic makes it really hot like an oven in there –
we’ll see what happens later in the year if we can keep the sucker
watered enough not to thirst to death!
